At HOTEL RESOL KYOTO SHIJO MUROMACHI, we hold special events for our guests on different days each month.
The event where you can meet maiko, "Maiko Kyoto Dance & Photo Session," which has been held since December last year, has been very well received and you are now given the chance to participate twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.
Currently, there are five geisha districts in Kyoto, known as the Gokagai. Miyagawacho is a historic geisha district located in Higashiyama Ward that has developed as a teahouse district with deep ties to performing arts such as Kabuki. For this event, we will invite a maiko from Minatoya, the oldest teahouse in Miyagawacho, to perform a dance. After the performance, we will also have a photo session where you can take photos with the maiko.
Many tea houses in Kyoto's entertainment district do not accept first-time customers, so you can enjoy a rare opportunity to interact with maiko. Enjoy a tasteful moment unique to Kyoto in the ancient capital of autumn.
April, May and June limited event: Tsugaru shamisen performance
An evening where you will be captivated by the powerful sounds of the Tsugaru shamisen.
Please enjoy the Tsugaru shamisen, a traditional Japanese music that is rich in improvisation and has a rhythmic performance. After the lecture, we will have a rare opportunity to actually touch the shamisen.
June-only event: "Live Ikenobo Flower Arrangement Demonstration"
Reishiki-sei is a ceremonial form in which flowers are solemnly arranged as an offering to gods and Buddhas or in public at formal occasions.
This event will feature a live performance by Ikenobo, the oldest school of flower arrangement. Experience the beauty that lies in silence and the Japanese spirit.
