From Saturday, June 22nd to Saturday, August 31st, 2024, Heian Shrine will hold the Tanabata Wind Chime Festival, where approximately 1,000 wind chimes will be hung from the corridors, designated Important Cultural Properties, and the Taiheikaku tower over the pond in the Shinen Garden.

When you walk under the colorful wind chimes, the refreshing sounds and beautiful patterns will cool your eyes and ears. Visitors can write their wishes on strips of paper and attach them to their favorite wind chimes as they offer their prayers.

This Tanabata Wind Chime Festival began in 2022. Since ancient times, it has been said that the sound of wind chimes has the power to ward off evil and evil spirits, and it began with the desire to ward off all kinds of disasters, including COVID-19.

Special red seals are also available for this limited time only, and a popular design features a wind chime print on a light blue backing.

The beautiful scenery that can only be seen at Heian Shrine's Tanabata Wind Chime Festival will make you forget the sweltering heat.
