Akihabara is a city filled with the passion and love of many different people.
The city is always bustling with activity, and many people visit it as a travel destination. However, sometimes you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax.
In that case, we recommend the cafe "KIELO COFFEE," located about a 6-minute walk from Akihabara Station. At the shop, you can enjoy coffee made with carefully selected beans in a sophisticated Scandinavian-style space.
We visited the store and spoke with the store's representative, Mr. Yoshiike. We'll introduce you to the charms of KIELO COFFEE, including his commitment to coffee, the recommended way to drink it, and the thoughts behind the store.
An "un-Akiba-like" cafe born from an experience in Finland
Once you open the door to the shop, you'll be greeted by a simple, calm space decorated in white and wood, a stark contrast to the vibrant Akihabara scenery.

The secret to the store's comfortable interior lies in its Nordic origins. KIELO COFFEE was born from Yoshiike's experiences in Finland.
When Yoshiike visited Finland on a trip, he was attracted to the Finnish way of life, where people have a sense of peace of mind and value the present. He also realized that the fact that they take coffee breaks many times a day might be a clue that supports their way of life. A coffee break is a time when you do nothing but drink coffee. It's what we call blank time.
In Japan, many people are always in the throes of something and lead busy lives. By providing a "coffee break" in Japan, Yoshiike hopes to give people a chance to regain peace of mind. With this in mind, he opened KIELO COFFEE.
Customers have even praised the store, saying, "In a good way, it's nice that it's not like Akihabara." It's precisely because of the relaxed atmosphere that is unlike Akihabara that customers visit the store in search of some downtime.
Highly aromatic and easy to drink, but with a deep coffee background
One thing we highly recommend at KIELO COFFEE is their drip coffee.KIELO COFFEE's roasting has won fourth place in a Japanese competition, and they boast some of the best techniques in Japan. Their coffee is lightly roasted, with little bitterness and is easy to drink.
For those who don't like coffee, we recommend the "Flat White," which is espresso mixed with milk. The concentrated aroma of espresso is combined with soft milk to create a drink that will overturn your image of coffee.
The coffee beans on offer are varieties that highlight the characteristics of their origins. Yoshiike carefully understands the origins and production backgrounds of the beans, and purchases beans with unique backgrounds and characteristics.
In the store, you can enjoy products with unique backgrounds, such as coffee beans that have won first place at an international competition, beans that are soaked with fruit to enjoy a unique flavor, and beans produced on farms that are actively tackling environmental issues.
A cafe where you can feel connected with just one cup of coffee
Through KIELO COFFEE, Yoshiike says, "I want to provide a place where people can be themselves and a time where they can feel that they are not alone."
Just as Yoshiike-san said, the shop is filled with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was impressive to see the staff happily talking to customers, asking questions like "Where are you from?" and "What's special about this coffee?"
We want to provide a place where you can be accepted for who you are without having to do anything. With this warm feeling, KIELO COFFEE is delivering a coffee break to many people.
