GO FOR KOGEI 2024 is an event showcasing the allure of traditional crafts

GO FOR KOGEI is an event that has been held annually since 2020 as an initiative to promote the appeal of crafts from the Hokuriku region. Until last year, it was only held in the Iwase area of Toyama Prefecture, but this year, the Higashiyama area of Kanazawa has been added, making it a two-location event.
Artisans, craftsmen, designers and artists will gather together to enjoy today's diverse crafts and related art, focusing once again on the characteristics of modern crafts, such as materials, techniques, uses and expressions.

Proposing various values for "using" and "experiencing" crafts

At GO FOR KOGEI 2024, you can experience the diverse value of crafts, such as their practicality and physicality, as well as the historical culture, natural environment, and regional characteristics that lie behind them. You can not only "see" crafts, but also enjoy collaborations with shops representing the Higashiyama area that use crafts, as a proposal for a rich lifestyle with crafts.

For example, at the spice specialty store "INSPICE KANAZAWA," you can taste the aroma of spices stored in tea canisters made by Kaikado, a long-established tea canister manufacturer in Kyoto.
You can enjoy the original aroma of the spices trapped in the airtight tea canister, and also appreciate the smooth feel of the tin tea canister.

Limited-time collaboration between Noto chestnut Mont Blanc and crafts

Limited-time collaboration between Noto chestnut Mont Blanc and crafts

Waguri Hakuro is a Japanese chestnut specialty cafe that uses Japanese chestnuts from Noto and strives to create and serve them in a way that makes the most of their aroma and flavor. Here, you can experience the collaboration between arts and crafts and food.

The Wajima lacquerware was made specially for the store by Akagi Akito, a lacquer artist with a studio in Wajima, Noto. The knives and forks were made by Takemata Yuichi, a metalwork artist based in Kanazawa. Along with these, you can enjoy two types of Mont Blanc, "Harizuri" and "Kincha."

By actually touching and experiencing the arts, you can get a closer and clearer idea of the value of craftsmanship in everyday life.

Why not enjoy a new contemporary craft?
Not just something to look at, but something that enriches your life and gives it new value and meaning.
