"Blanc de Blanc" is a popular local hideaway dining bar that is also crowded with fellow barbers.

About a 15-minute walk from HOTEL RESOL TRINITY NAHA, the dining bar "Blanc de Blanc" is located in a residential area lined with red-tiled roof houses and bare concrete apartment buildings, typical of Okinawa.

Discover small but new discoveries in the everyday

Blanc de Blanc is a dining bar where you can enjoy dishes and cocktails made with Okinawan ingredients. The dimly lit orange interior creates a calm atmosphere, and there is a wide selection of wines and whiskeys. The interior is also decorated with musical instruments such as pianos and guitars, books such as magazines, dried flowers, and seashells.

A variety of alcoholic drinks lined up on the wall

The interior of the store has a relaxed atmosphere, decorated with musical instruments and books.

"Through this bar, I want people to experience the joy of 'discovery' in everyday life."

So says the owner, Uehara. The interior of Blanc de Blanc is decorated with things we see in our daily lives, such as alcohol, books, and flowers. But each and every one of them is packed with Uehara's "little attention to detail."

Encountering alcohol for the first time can lead to discoveries of smells and tastes you've never known before.

Unique items can really spark conversation among the people around you.

This leads to discoveries in everyday life.

When you go to Blanc de Blanc, you'll make new discoveries. It seems that it's in this expectation that not only locals, but also people who come by taxi from a little further away come.

The owner, a certified sommelier, will suggest drinks to suit each individual's tastes.

Born and raised in Okinawa, Uehara's childhood dream was to "one day have my own bar." He has now achieved his dream and is the owner of a dining bar, but surprisingly, he didn't like alcohol at first.

"After graduating from a junior college in the United States, I wanted to maintain my language skills even after returning to Okinawa, so I was looking for a job where I could use my English. That's when I found a job posting at a salsa bar that foreigners often visit. Even though the workplace served alcohol, at the time I couldn't even stand Kahlua milk.

But as I made various cocktails, I started to think that alcohol is deep and interesting. From then on, I became more and more addicted to alcohol."

Uehara then moved to Tokyo to further study alcohol and gained experience in bars and restaurants in the city. After obtaining his sommelier qualification, he returned to Okinawa about 10 years ago. He further honed his skills at first-class hotels in the prefecture, such as the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort and the Hyatt Regency Naha Okinawa, before opening Blanc de Blanc in 2017.

As mentioned earlier, they are particular about their alcohol, and offer a wide variety of drinks, with a focus on whiskey.

"We source our liquor not only from within the prefecture, but also from liquor stores in Tokyo and Osaka. We have over 300 types of whiskey in stock at all times. We also carry niche bottler brands. Of course, we also have wine, beer, gin, and awamori available."

The wide selection is possible thanks to Uehara, who has experience as a sommelier outside the prefecture. Perhaps because of the wide variety, Blanc de Blanc has many regular customers who are restaurant and bar owners. Even if you are not familiar with alcohol, if you tell them what you usually drink and your favorite tastes, they will suggest a drink that suits you. It is also possible to order original cocktails made with Okinawan fruits such as shikuwasa, mango, and passion fruit and awamori.

Blanc de Blanc is the place to discover a new you

At Blanc de Blanc, where you can enjoy delicious alcohol selected by sommelier Uehara and food made with Okinawan ingredients, they also host jazz concerts once a month.

"Every month we have the honor of hosting Takako Yasufuso, a famous figure in the Okinawan jazz scene who is known to everyone.
Okinawa is a region with a thriving music scene, but jazz is a genre that people tend to shy away from because it is difficult to understand. But jazz live shows are a lot of fun. Even when the same artist is performing the same song, you can hear completely different performances depending on the conditions at each time. The thrill of it all becomes addictive."

Blanc de Blanc offers new discoveries from a variety of angles, not just alcohol. If you come here, you might discover a side of yourself you never knew existed.
