STAY PLAN

"Sakura Afternoon Tea with Rokujizogama" in collaboration with a local potter

From Friday, March 1st to Thursday, May 16th, 2024, Suishutei, a restaurant set in a historic building in Risor Forest, will be serving a spring-only "Sakura Afternoon Tea with Rokujizogama" that will captivate you with the ephemeral and beautiful scent of cherry blossoms that Japanese people adore and the rich, deep flavor of cheese that is loved all over the world.

The dessert menu will feature eight items, including "Fromage Cui Greek Yogurt Quenelle," baked with fromage blanc and fermented cream made with raw milk from Normandy, and "Sakura Chiffon Cake with Mascarpone Cream," mixed with cherry blossom bean paste and served with rich mascarpone cream. The savory menu will feature four items made with seasonal spring ingredients such as rape blossoms and new onions from the local town of Shirako, and will be accompanied by two types of homemade scones with cherry blossom whipped cream and clotted cream. The gorgeous appearance will make for an exciting tea time.

The tea utensils will be made from unglazed porcelain produced by local Nagaremachi potter Yasuda Hiroyasu at his Rokujizogama kiln. Yasuda studied Bizen ware in Okayama Prefecture, and at the age of 36 moved to Rokujizo in Nagaremachi and established his own kiln, Rokujizogama. He is involved in everything from preparing the clay, turning the potter's wheel, shaping, gathering firewood and firing the kiln, and his plates and tea utensils, with their natural, rustic colors and varied textures, will make for a relaxing tea time. You can see his new works, completed just last winter, in store. (Click here for details)

For drinks, we provide a welcome drink of cherry blossom squash, as well as free-flowing three types of herbal tea from Otaki Herb Garden in Otaki Town, Chiba Prefecture, as well as black tea and coffee.
