Glen Clyde is a socks manufacturer that runs GLEN CLYDE SOCKCLUB TOKYO. We spoke with Terumi Kubota, who was fascinated by the socks they made and switched jobs from a sales clerk at a select shop to work at Glen Clyde.

Kubota first learned about Glen Clyde when she was working at a select shop in her previous job. "Of the many socks available, Glen Clyde socks were by far the best in quality," she says with a sparkle in her eyes.

"Socks are consumable items. Compared to clothes and shoes, they may seem inconspicuous. We questioned that notion, and for over 30 years since our founding, we have placed 'presence,' 'durability,' and 'comfort to wear' at the core of our manufacturing," he told us about Glenn Clyde's philosophy.

By achieving "presence," "durability," and "comfort," socks will be loved for a long time. "Glenn Clyde" shows us a new value.

A small but elite team passionate about manufacturing

Glen Clyde has only 15 employees. In addition to planning, designing and selling its own brand, the company also handles overseas expansion and manufacturing for other companies' brands.

Kubota talks about the strengths of being a small company: "A specialized team selects the yarn, shape, and machinery for the socks, but we shop staff are often involved in the process from product planning to manufacturing and sales. We can explain to customers in our own words the thoughts and characteristics that we put into the socks."

"We are able to reflect the unique opinions of our sales staff, who are in daily contact with customers. It's rare to find a company where sales staff have the ability to comment on plans and prototypes. We enjoy making socks without compromising."

Furthermore, the process from planning to the completion of the socks is published on the website under the title "Sock Lab. Genryu Project," sharing with customers the little-known behind-the-scenes aspects of product development.
