Akihabara is an urban city with a unique character. "Tokyo Noble" is enhancing the value of umbrellas by continuing to make products with the fine and reliable craftsmanship that is so characteristic of Japan.
Upon entering the store, you are greeted by colorful umbrellas. "Does this remind you of our colored pencil sets and make you excited?" asks manager Yuko Ichise.
At "Tokyo noble," you can choose your favorite fabric from 77 colors and customize the length and handle to create your own umbrella. We spoke to Ichise about his thoughts and dedication to creating original umbrellas.

Some people visit "Tokyo noble" to buy umbrellas for themselves, and others to give them as gifts to loved ones. When it comes to gifts, people put even more effort into choosing the design.
"Just like trying on clothes, you just have to decide on the length, fabric, handles, etc. one by one. For example, we ask the person you are dating what kind of clothes they are wearing, what color bags and shoes they have, and then we can suggest a total outfit."
Once you have assembled the items you have chosen, your umbrella will be complete in about 30 minutes.
The final step is to finish the umbrella into a firm and crisp shape.
"A crisp umbrella that makes a bong sound when rain hits the fabric should lift your spirits even on a gloomy rainy day. Furthermore, in order to use your umbrella for a long time, it is important to always dry it after it gets wet in the rain. We hope you will continue to use your umbrella with love by having it repaired."
The biggest challenge is to continue
"Tokyo noble" is a company that manages everything from planning to manufacturing and sales. They also talk about the difficulties of continuing to make umbrellas, such as the aging of craftsmen and the rising cost of materials.
"The emphasis now is on environmental considerations, and the idea has shifted to the idea that it's fine as long as you don't get wet in the rain. Restrictions are being imposed on the raw materials and chemicals needed to make umbrellas, so it's difficult to make functional umbrellas."
"Many manufacturers that handle materials such as fabric, bones, and handles have gone out of business or scaled back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To make a single umbrella, every material and every person involved is essential. It is extremely difficult to continue with our commitment to quality, but we cannot continue without people, especially young people, who will continue to make umbrellas in the future. Tokyo noble values the 'tradition and inheritance' of the next generation and the continuation of the tradition, and we work hard every day to make umbrellas with young craftsmen in their 20s."
Now I realize that the umbrella in front of me was born from a miraculous baton.

It is also becoming increasingly popular as an item for supporting your favorite idols.
Also as a fashion item
The miraculous umbrella will continue to exist
Ichise said happily, "Customers who come into the store say things like, 'Actually, this is my third umbrella,' 'I received this as a gift and liked it so much that I came to buy one for myself,' and 'I can't wait for rainy days.'"
In some cases, we have even seen them skipping away as they left.
At "Tokyo noble," you'll find an umbrella that will make you want to skip.
