You may encounter Japanese culture at a hotel during your travels. HOTEL RESOL TRINITY KYOTO will be holding a special event for guests staying at the hotel from July to September 2025, called "Maiko Kyoto Dance & Photo Session."

Kyoto is a place where traditional Japanese culture still lives on. Among them, maiko continue to fascinate people as a symbol of the aesthetic sense of the entertainment district. Young women who aim to become geiko hone their dancing and mannerisms through daily training, and perform their art in front of customers. Maiko are a presence that conveys Kyoto's unique culture to the present day.

Quiet luxury immersed in the culture of Kyoto's entertainment district

Even today, there are five areas in Kyoto known as geisha districts, where tea houses line the streets, collectively known as the Gokagai. Miyagawacho in Higashiyama, one of these districts, has had a deep connection with kabuki and dance since the Edo period and has preserved its traditions as a teahouse district.

For this event, we will be inviting a maiko from Minatoya, a particularly historic teahouse in Miyagawacho. Minatoya is a prestigious teahouse that also puts effort into training maiko and geiko, and continues to uphold the custom of not accepting first-time customers.

This opportunity to experience the dance that has been passed down there up close is sure to be a luxurious experience that can only be experienced while traveling.

A sense of tension and beauty permeates the space

The event took place in the lobby of HOTEL RESOL TRINITY KYOTO. The tatami-floored space had the feel of a traditional Japanese tea house. The maiko appeared amid the soft sounds of shamisen and flutes.

The sight of the dancer standing tall creates a tense atmosphere, naturally drawing the attention of the audience. The movements unfold before your eyes, gentle yet firm. The long "darari obi" draped over the back sways in time with the dance, giving even the back view an air of dignity.

Every movement, from walking to sitting, is carefully considered, and the entire space becomes immersed in the world of maiko, creating a sense of realism as if you are experiencing a scene from a play right before your eyes.

After the performance, you will have the chance to take a commemorative photo with the maiko. By capturing her elegant figure in a photograph, you can commemorate your special encounter with her on your trip.
