EVENTS
HOTEL RESOL TRINITY KYOTO will be hosting an event where you can experience Japanese culture for a limited time from April to June 2025. An unexpected and heart-pounding Japanese performance will be held in the hotel.
Maiko, ninjas, karate, kabuki and other aspects of Japanese culture that are rarely encountered in everyday life are all authentic yet approachable, providing a relaxing time during your trip.
The performances, which change daily, are all compact, about 20 minutes long, but the appeal is in the production, which draws you in. The extraordinary experiences you encounter on your trip will gently color your time at the hotel.
A show featuring ninjas using different weapons, all within reach
One of the most appealing events is the "Ninja Show" held every Monday and Thursday, where spectators can also take part.
As the sun was setting in the hotel lobby, the clear sound of a flute signaled the start of the event. The performers were three ninjas skilled in their respective techniques: ninja sword, kunai, and bare hands. Their breathtakingly sharp movements were balanced with grace, and their fighting moves were almost like a dance.
There will also be time set aside for the audience to participate in the event. When you take a ninja pose together with the performers, you will feel like a ninja. In the ninja pose, the fingertips of the right hand represent a sword and the left hand represents a sheath, which is said to represent "putting away the sword and calming the mind."
The 20-minute performance feels like it went by in a flash. At the end of the show, you can take a commemorative photo with the performers. It will be a memorable photo to remember your trip.
Tomoeda Juju, who is in charge of directing and performing at the Ninja Show event
The "Ninja Show" unfolds right before your eyes. Making the most of the limited space, it never lets the audience's eyes or minds leave theirs.
The person in charge of directing and performing at this event is actor and performer Juju Tomoeda. "Because the space is limited, it's fun to come up with ways to stage it so that the audience can enjoy it," he said.
Tomoeda aspired to become an entertainer when he was in the fifth grade of elementary school. He was captivated by a ninja show he saw at Kyoto Studio Park and decided that he wanted to be someone who stood on the stage, not just a spectator. After that, he gained a variety of experiences in musicals and theme park shows before returning to his roots as a ninja.
"Ninjas tend to be seen as scary because they wear black costumes, but I think that by adding a bit of humor and peaceful elements, it can be enjoyed by people of all ages," says Tomoeda, who continues to flexibly update his performances while sensing the mood of the audience, which changes daily.
"Because the experience can be viewed for free within the hotel, we want to provide an experience that will make people say, 'wow,' and move their hearts." True to these words, the event is filled with a passion to bring smiles and surprise to the audience.
You may come across a Japanese performance at a hotel during your trip. This event, where a slightly tense atmosphere intersects with light-hearted humor, will provide you with a relaxing moment during your trip. In addition to this, there are various other events held that allow you to experience the unique culture of Kyoto.
At the "Maiko Kyoto Dance & Photo Session," a maiko from the teahouse "Minatoya" in Miyagawacho, one of the five geisha districts of Kyoto, will perform an elegant dance. After the performance, you can take a commemorative photo with the maiko. You can casually experience the geisha culture, which is usually hard to experience, right in the hotel.
The "Karate Performance" will feature a performance by a former kickboxing and bodybuilding champion. Through their movements, which combine strength and grace, you will be able to experience the spirit of Japanese martial arts up close.
At the "Kabuki Lion Performance & Photo Session," you can enjoy dynamic dancing and powerful movements right before your eyes. After the performance, you can take photos with the performers and there is also an exhibition of photos of the unique Kabuki makeup called "oshiguma," allowing you to fully savor the afterglow of the performing arts. (Ends at the end of May.)
Each Japanese performance has its own unique charm, adding depth and color to your trip. Please enjoy this time as a break from your daily routine.
