Every year in late November, a large Christmas tree is set up next to the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.

The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will hold the Christmas Market in Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse from Friday, November 22nd to Wednesday, December 25th, 2024.

Authentic German Christmas at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse

The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is one of the symbols of Minato Mirai. In fact, it incorporates some German architectural styles.

Because of its connection with Germany, the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse holds a Christmas market every year, which is said to have originated in Germany. The first market was held in 2010, and it has now become a representative event held all over Japan.

In preparation for the event, the staff even traveled to Germany to inspect the place. Mr. Arakawa, who is in charge of the event, explains the attention to detail that went into making it.

"I want to create an event that allows people to experience the real thing by incorporating what they saw and felt on-site."

The wooden huts known as "Hütte" and the dolls displayed at the venue were also imported from Germany. They are putting even more effort into creating a worldview based on the real thing.

The 15th event, a "Memorial" moment

The concept of this year's event, which marks the 15th time it has been held, is "Memorial." The number of stores will be the highest ever at 58*, and they will be selling food and miscellaneous goods unique to Germany.

The illumination garden, which is free to enter, will be decorated with the theme of "Celebration Party" to evoke the image of a "small forest party venue" to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the event. Six food trucks will also be set up, offering Christmas dishes popular around the world.

A number of events will also be held in conjunction with the Memorial. From December 20th (Friday) to December 24th (Tuesday), a portion of the venue will be available for exclusive use by one group per day, selected by lottery, and there will also be mugs created in collaboration with Noritake, a world-famous Western-style tableware brand. These are all content befitting a Memorial.
